by Barbara Fradkin.
An elderly, well-dressed woman is found dead in an Ottawa alley. She has no ID, and nobody matching her description has been reported missing.
Rookie police detective Josh Kanner is involved in the investigation. He shares details about the case with his new girlfriend, patrol officer Hannah Green.
Hannah’s father is Inspector Michael Green, who’s supposedly assigned to courthouse admin rather than active street investigations. But he can’t stay away from the case, and the more involved he gets, the more surprises he confronts.
