Finding Tessa
by Jaime Lynn Hendricks
To all appearances, Tessa and Jace are a happily married young couple. Jace has a good job at the local bank, and Tessa’s interior decorating business has gotten off to a great start. They’ve bought a house, and they’re in love.
Then Jace gets home after an evening with colleagues and discovers Tessa is missing. The back window is broken; there’s blood and broken glass on the kitchen floor. Jace is sure someone has taken her, but from the way the police are questioning him, it seems clear they suspect he had something to do with her disappearance.
The story unfolds with alternating chapters told from Jace’s and Tessa’s point of view. We learn that when they got married—on impulse, at city hall— they’d only known each other for two weeks. There are a lot of things they don’t know about each other, secrets about their pasts they haven’t shared.
And the story is not as straightforward as it seems. Just when we think we’ve got it figured out, there comes a big twist. And further twists keep happening, right to the end! This is a gripping story, one that’s hard to put down.
This is Jaime Hendricks’ debut novel, published in spring 2021, but it’s not the first she’s written. She had already written an earlier novel, but her agent hadn’t managed to find a publisher for it. That has now changed: Hendrick’s publisher optioned the earlier novel and is bringing it out in May 2022, under the name It Could Be Anyone.
And she’s already finished a third book, but no announcements yet.
Hendricks’ background includes 20 years experience in print media and marketing. Like many authors she’s been writing most of her life. She’s also a voracious reader, sometimes reading two to three suspense and thriller novels a week She lives in New Jersey with her husband John.
